How to apply for FCPS Part 1

The whole process runs through the CPSP online portal. Budget a couple of weeks — document attestation and PMDC equivalence are what usually delay people, not the form itself.

  1. 1

    Check you are eligible

MBBS or BDS registered with PMDC, plus one year of house job at a PMDC-recognised institution. Foreign graduates need their qualification equated by PMDC first — start that early, it is the slowest step.

  2. 2

    Gather your documents

MBBS/BDS degree or provisional certificate, valid PMDC registration (a renewal receipt is accepted if yours has expired), house job certificate countersigned by the head of institution, and CNIC.

  3. 3

    Fill the online form

On the CPSP portal, open the online examination form and choose Fresh or Repeater. You will receive a form number by email along with a challan.

  4. 4

    Pay the fee

Rs 25,050 by bank challan, bank draft, at a CPSP regional office, or online by debit/credit card. Keep the receipt — you may need it if the payment is not reflected.

  5. 5

    Upload your documents

Return to the portal with your form number and complete step 2 by uploading the scanned documents.

  6. 6

    Collect your roll number slip

Once the fee is verified and documents approved, the roll number slip arrives by email and can be downloaded from the portal. Bring your original CNIC to the centre.

About attestation

Originals do not need attestation. Only photocopies do, and they must be attested by an approved authority — a CPSP fellow, a medical college principal, or the head of your institution. This trips up more applications than anything else on the list.
